#ThrowBack To Summer

The End of Summer = The End of Social Life
As Jess, Sophia and I enter our senior year of high school, we are bombarded with school related activities (a.k.a the college process). Ever since this summer, we've been getting ready for the college process. We've been writing countless essays, artist statement, creating artwork, volunteering and getting our act together. As it is October 14, 2013, we are extremely busy with the whole college process and we will still try and post a thing or two on the blog as we are still committed to this blog and to our viewers.

This post is a major throwback to the summer that we needed after our hectic junior year. We were hanging out in the Lower East Side and walked past a Bareburger. And we all know how much I love a good old fashion burger, so I couldn't resist. Please enjoy these delicious pictures courtesy of me.

Clothing & Makeup Haul

Brandy Melville, American Apparel and Vintage Levi's

Shopping is my cardio. Jess and I went shopping at night in Soho and oh my god, Brandy Melville was less crowded. This is was my first experience shopping at night and I loved it. Walking around the streets of Soho with the glistering city lights above you was a spectacular sight. I recommend shopping at night to anyone. I didn't get much, just a few articles of clothing. First, starting from the right was a great find in some vintage store in Soho, was a vintage studded Levi's jacket. This jacket is a bit bigger than my current Levi's jacket but it will do. I've been looking for a light washed studded Levi's jacket everywhere for a decent price, but I lucked out. Surprisingly I came upon this acid washed one for $20. To me that was a steal. I've seen these kind of jackets at Urban and Esty for $80+. The next article of clothing is the American Apparel Corduroy Circle Skirt. I've tried this circle skirt on before and I didn't like the look on me so I couldn't justify buying it for $45. I decided to go into the AA Soho Outlet to see what they had and luckily I found a section with circle skirts and there was only one black corduroy in my size. It was fate that it was for me to get and I did for $25. Thank goodness that I bought this on impulse because I love it. I've been wearing this every week, and since it's black it goes with everything. Lastly, we went to Brandy Melville. Surprisely they didn't have anything I really wanted. I saw that they had a bin that had stuff on sale for 35%, stuff that was last season or damaged and I came upon a basic grey tee. I thought the tee would go nicely with the circle skirt so I bought.
Makeup Forever, Stila and Sigma

All year round I try to make my makeup minimal and have a natural and clean look on my face. I usually stick with concealer, foundation and eyeliner. My typical go-to look for school or just hanging out around the city. I thought it was time to stock up on some of my favorite basics from Sephora. I also bought a Sigma foundation brush to go along with my foundation. Before I used my fingers to apply my foundation and I read tons of reviews of the F80 and everyone recommended it so I decided to jump the wagon and purchased it. Next, is the Stila eyeliner. This eyeliner is my go-to eyeliner. It's a felt-tip liner that allows you to make thin or thick lines. It does what it says; it stays on all day.

Summer Picks: Shoe Heaven

Top Row: Urban Outfitters (not on site anymore), FreePeople, Urban Outfitters Bottom Row: Solestruck, Steve Madden

Sorry its been a long time since we last posted anything. Our school life has been crazy and especially with SAT/ACT and AP's taking place, but we're BACK! So, here is my long awaited shoe picks for the glorious summer waiting ahead. Starting from the top row is my new favorite ankle boots. The Jeffrey Campbell "Rosie" is the perfect shoe for the tomboy. This boot can go with practically anything, from a floral dresses to a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans. Moving to the next shoe is a pair of studded converse. This is also perfect for anyone who is going for that effortless look. It's sporty, casual and flirty, perfect for the summer! This is also an easy Do It Yourself project with some of your girlfriends. Now what is summer without a good pair of sandals? These black and brown sandals from Urban Outfitters are the perfect sandals for the summer. Both the black and the brown go perfectly with dresses and high waisted shorts.
The bottom row showcases the heel portion of my list. I am in love with wearing white in the summer. Something about white in the summer screams fresh and clean. This first shoe is from Solestruck (forgot the brand, but pretty sure it's Jeffrey Campbell) is the perfect mixture of a creeper, a wedge and a chunky heel. I love the laser cutout details and the wood wedge with a chunky heel that makes it easy to walk in. This shoe is the perfect shoe to dress up an outfit but still have a clean grunge feel. The next two shoes are from Steve Madden. The white strappy heel adds a flirtatious sense to an outfit. I can see anyone wearing this heel in some high waisted shorts or some flowy dresses. And lastly, what is summer with out some flower power. I wanted to find the perfect floral print heel for the summer and I think I did. Strappy heels are so on-trend this season. They walked all over New York, Paris and Milan runways. This floral pair is an easy to add a pop of color to someone's outfit.

Fashion Icon: Rumi Reely

We all know Rumi Neely as Fashion Toast, a well-known style blog that showcases Neely as being the epitome of west coast style with a hit of east coast. Her style is a bit of everything, it's grunge, it's chic, it's street, it's effortless, it's simple, and it's timeless.

This is one of the many looks that I love from Neely. I love how she incorporates menswear with a feminine twist in her style.

I also love this love because she incorporates high end items with inexpensive pieces. In this particular look she paired off her Monki suede tshirt with a Brandy Melville skirt and last but not least she finished the look with her Balenciaga boots.

☯ I'd sell my soul for these soles ☯

☯ I'd sell my soul for these soles ☯

Christian Louboutin pointy-toe pumps / High heels / Flower print shoes / Tan booties / Short heel shoes / Stretch boots

Who needs a boyfriend when you have shoes? Not me, obviously. Quite recently I've been taking to browsing online, debating what my next pair would be, and these are my choice for kicks that would kick off any outfit.

Starting from the top of the pyramid:

Dr.Martens "Roma" High heeled Loafer-  As you can see from the shoes I chose, I'm trying to branch out into heels, and I think these are adorable. They're the perfect finishing touch for vintage-y dresses, which is exactly how I intend to style them, if I'm lucky enough to get my hands on these beauties.

Nita Velvet Oxford - Starstruck- Now, three trends I can never resist are oxblood, velvet and oxfords, and these shoes just happened to be all three of those things, wrapped up in one adorable little star-covered package. I think these would look amazing with high waisted skinnies, minimal makeup  and a relaxed t-shirt for just an effortlessly cool look.

Max Oxford in White Floral- I feel like these are the type of shoes a princess would wear on her day off. Not gonna lie, I would probably prostitute myself for them. While the rather vintage oxford style along with bright florals may not be everyone's style, I think they're perfect for spring and summer (and winter and fall to brighten up the dreary weather)..

Badlands Ankle Boot in Wine - I don't know what my obsession is with having shoes that much my hair color, but in the words of the great Wendy "whateva". These have a totally 70's vibe, they're just screaming to be worn with disco pants and a crop top. Or a tied maxi skirt and tank. Either works.

Christian Louboutin Pointy Toe Pumps - These are both the classy-est and the most expensive of my shoe choices. Personally I think these are the ideal pair of black heels, simple and well constructed. The red sole adds just the right amount of flair to make a statement without being too over-the-top.

Alla Buckled Bootie - These are the most bitching pair of shoes ever. I love the chunky heel, which provides height without being hard to walk in and is just oh-so 90s. I think the gold hardware and cutouts make you look so bad ass that you could walk around in the girly-est outfit ever, but if you wore these shoes people would respect you.

Everly Cutout Boot - Tan Perforated- Ankle boots are a great staple shoe to have. They look adorable with jeans, but can also be fancies up with a dress or transitioned into summer by pairing them with shorts. I think these are a great twist on the classic item. The cutouts and perforations make them perfect for when you are wearing them for summer, but also allow you to great creative with socks in the colder seasons! I am in love.

                                                                                Happy Spring Break to all!,

Outfit of The Day: Denim on Denim

The wind made my baby hair go cray- cray
Vintage Levi's jacket/ American Apparel Top/American Apparel Jeans/Jeffrey Campbell "Everly" boot

Hola my lovely readers. Clearly, today I woke up and had the urge to wear everything denim (minus the shoes). Today in NYC it felt warm for the first time in a long time. Jess and I totally took advantage of this beautiful spring break weather and walked around our beautiful city. We danced around the streets, acted like teenagers and didn't have a care in the world. We finally got some well deserved R and R (rest and recreation) from our busy school life and finally got a chance to hang out for the whole day.
I rocked three different washes of denim and I loved it. I've always loved the idea of denim on denim and it's making a huge comeback from the disastrous denim on denim duo from Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. Well, it's time for me to start some of my spring break homework. What's the point in having a break if it's not truly a break?
You guys have to wait and see what I will wear next, so check us out daily!!!

Fashion Icons: Bethany Cosentino

Alrighy everyone! It's time for a new feature on the blog! We will now be doing posts dedicated to our style icon. And my first is none other than the beautiful Bethany Cosentino. You may know her from one of my favorite bands, Best Coast. Aw man she is just too cool. Her style is almost like modern 90s.(A.K.A. the best decade) And it just screams California. I love it. Not to mention she and her boyfriend, Nathan Williams (of Wavves), are one of my favorite couples.
Nathan&Bethany4ever
As you may know she somewhat recently did a collaboration with Urban Outfitters. It was totally rad. I'm so sad it's over.

My (Wendy) Spring/Summer Picks: Dresses!

Photos courtesy of Nastygal, litboutique, Wasteland, and RevolveClothing
Mother Nature was kinda late in giving New York City a snow storm, like a month late. And I'm here on my laptop telling you guys about my spring/summer dress picks. Like what Jess said or rather wrote on her previous blog post, spring is just around the corner, and I thought it was appropriate to share my personal picks for the upcoming season and give you guys some  inspiration for your next shopping expedition. So going in order of the pictures here are my picks.

Shakuhachi's New Romantics Dress: First off I think this dress is perfect for Coachella. The model in the picture is working it. There are so many things I love about this dress. The daisy and circular embroidery adds a cool relaxed hipster vibe that is juxtaposed with the hard, but subtle cutouts that adds a fun and flirty look to the whole outfit. It's the perfect length and shows enough skin that doesn't seem like you're trying to hard. Just like the model I would wear my hair down and attempt to make it wavy just like her or maybe even better. As for shoes a simple sandal or ankle booties would definitely work.

Cheap Monday's Collen Chambray Shirt: This dress/shirt screams too cool for summer school. I also love how the model is wearing the dress. It's so street-chic without really trying too hard. I can imagine a girl wearing this dress walking down the busy streets of New York City, drinking her ice coffee without a care in the world.

Finders Keeper's Moon Dance Long Sleeve Tunic: Ever since Givenchy presented colorful and bold prints down the Paris Runway I've been trying to incorporate prints into my wardrobe. I love the cool color palette that Finders Keepers used. It's perfect for those summer sunset walks down the California beach that Jess and I dream about.

Motel's Medusa Dress: I would say that this dress is the fanciest out of the bunch, but you can dress it down. Put a denim button down and you are out the door. I just love the silhouette and the small detailing with the studs around the waist area. The silhouette of this dress makes you seem slimmer. (But don't worry you don't need that because you are perfect)

Finders Keeper's You Sent Me T-Shirt Dress: And yet again another Finders Keepers dress. I love this brand. They design and produce clothes that are fit and form fitting and lose and relax. Same with the first Finders Keepers dress, you can wear this dress practically wherever and do whatever. Both of the Finders Keepers dresses are easy to style. You can pair them off with a simple heel or ankle booties and be out the door and the world is ready for you!!

So those are my dress picks for the upcoming beautiful spring/summer season. I have a good feeling that this one is going to be a good one!

Jess's spring wishlist♡♡♡♡♡♡

Okay so today is March 1st, which means Spring is just around the corner(to me at least), and that means it's a perfect time for a Spring Wish list! Without further ado, my wish list.

American Apparel Nail Polish: The American Apparel Coney Island colored nail polish is such a dream color. Personally, I think that some cute nail art completes an outfit. I'll be sure to do a nail tutorial real soon.

Starbucks Iced Chai: I know that this isn't a piece of clothing or anything but I simply cannot wait until I get to sip an Iced Chai from Starbucks while walking down the street in a cute summer dress and sunnies with the wind blowing softly through my hair. Ah I can picture it now... and I need to stop because I'm getting myself excited and I'll go into shock when I actually step outside.

Floral Crown: A.K.A. the ultimate spring accessory. I'm sure you've been spotting floral crowns popping all over. It's an unexpected way to really spice up an outfit. Definitely going to be a huge trend for Spring/Summer. We're working making some floral crowns ourselves, might I add, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.

American Apparel Circle Skirt What can I say? This skirt just screams Spring time lovin'! Just imagine how cute it would be with practically any crop top/tank top you can think of.

Deena & Ozzy Snap Clutch From Urban Outfitters: I love love love this color. It's so mellow but at the same time it could totally transform an outfit. Plus you could use it year round, why restrict this gorgeous bag to only Spring?

Daytripped Panama Sunglasses From Urban Outfitters: As you may have noticed I'm just a little obsessed with sunglasses. Okay... very obsessed with sunglasses. These sunnies are next on my list. Of course, I would also love some Marc Jacobs or some Tom Fords but seeing as I wanted this wishlist to be realistic, unfortunately I'm probably not going to be getting designer sunglasses any time soon. Anyway, these sunglasses are just beautiful and I can't wait to scoot on over to Urban and buy them for the low low price of just $16! weeeeeeeee

Diament Jewelry For Urban Outfitters Earrings: Don't get me wrong, I love hoop earrings and everything but I prefer studs. I especially love mixing and matching studs and these are just perfect. Plus, they're on sale for 10 bucks!

Free People Knee SocksOne of my all time favorite movies is Clueless and I obviously draw a lot of inspiration from it. Needless to say, I'm in love with knee socks and thigh highs and Free People just so happen to make beautifully soft ones.

Supergas: I love these sneakers. They're so classic. One of my favorite style icons is Alexa Chung and she wears these constantly. They're perfect for adding some cool to any outfit.

Cosmic Dream Dress From Nasty Gal: Last but not least is this lovely dress. I guess you could say it was love at first sight. When I said a cute summer dress before^ this dress fits the card. Oh lordy... forget Spring, I want Summer.

xx Jess

☯ Sophia's Makeup Essentials ☯

Hello everyone! So today I'm going to make our first beauty post and talk about some of my personal favorite products, most of which I use on a daily basis.  I shall be talking about every single one of these products, going from the bottom to the top of the pyramid. So enough chatter, let's get onto the post!
  • Rimmel London Glam'eyes Mascara: I completely concur with Jess that mascara is the most important thing to put on your face, and this mascara is phenomenal. It gives you really nice, full, long lashes and you can buy it at your local drugstore. Some people may say it's too "dramatic" for their taste, but I consider myself a pretty zesty gal and love it.
  • Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose: I am an absolute lip balm addict so when I say a lip balm is the best, it's pretty damn good. Korres makes these in a variety of colors and scents, and you can get them at Sephora, and when I say I want to marry this lip balm I am not exaggerating. PLUS this stuff is from Greece just like my family so hell yes.
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Blissful: The only blush I've ever owned and the only one I ever intend to (besides a cream color stick for travelling in the summer obviously). This stuff lasts super long and is the perfect "warm peach" for my skin tone.
  • Harajuku Lovers Wicked Style Perfume in Baby: I know this isn't a makeup product but I love it so much I feel I had to include it. It has notes of honeysuckle, peach, rose and vanilla. It's what I imagine Unicorn World to smell like.
  • MAC Lipstick in Lady Danger: This red lasts all day and is has a lovely coral undertone. Perfect for days when you want that extra bit of chic a red lip gives, and I just love the name (even if that's stupid).
  • Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette in Poetica: As I previously stated in my about me post, purple is my favorite color. This palette has stunning purple colors and awesome quality. It makes my eyelids beautiful and unicorn-y.
Well, that was a long post! I promise to be a bit more concise in the future, but I guess I was just feeling ramble-y today. I hope everyone has an absolutely fabulous weekend!

                                                                                      Laterz,

Shopping Shenanigans

Who doesn't love shopping? Shopping has the ability to turn an awful day into an amazing one. You guys didn't know this, but I lately I've been practicing shopping celibacy. However, a few months back I bought MinkPink slasher high waisted shorts from Nastygal and I didn't want to show just one item in a haul because that's just boring. But the shorts are so amazing. I absolutely love these shorts, but I couldn't justify buying them for $78. So, once they were on sale on Nastygal I had to pounce on the opportunity and buy them for the upcoming Summer season.

I've been eyeing Doc Martens for so long and I decided to finally get them! I searched all over SoHo, and when I say I searched all over SoHo I mean I went to every single shoe store that SoHo had to offer. I swear it's easier for a one-legged pirate to play soccer than for me to find Doc Martens in my size! The official Doctor Martens store didn't even have my size. I was totally bummed but hey,  life goes on.  I started to search for Doc Martens online and Urban Outfitters had them back-ordered until March. Was there a Doc Martens 1460 Original 8 eye, Black Smooth size 7 genocide that I didn't know about?! Finally, I found a pair at Journeys and although they were back-ordered a few days I decided to get them.

P.S. Doc. Martens hurt like a mofo.

So one down, one more to go on my list. I've been eying this army green bomber jacket from Nastygal for a long time. I never had that type of jacket before so why not try it out, right?

I also have been eyeing this dress for a long time so I decided to get it. This dress is perfect for the spring/summer time. I love the pleats and to my surprise I actually love the flare sleeves. I usually don't like flare anything but in this case it definitely works. Whilst envisioning what I would be wearing with this lovely dress, I was thinking about wearing my over-sized Levi's denim jacket with my chain suspender tights from House of Holland and of course my gorgeous (but painful to break in) Doc Martens.

j e s s ♡♡

  • My name is Jessica.
  • Most people call me Jess(ie)
  • I don't like it when guys call me Jessie because it makes me feel like they're talking to one of their "bros" named Jesse, which is why I generally tell people that my name is Jess. Just wanted to clear that up.
  • I have a deep love for Mac&Cheese oh my god
  • Also: Ice Cream
  • I love Peter Pan
  • My favorite color is blue
  • I'm a dog person. Cats are nice but dogs are just better.
  • Indie music is my fave
  • I like flowers
  • I'm having difficulty writing this because there's a ringing in my ears
  • I think Bethany Cosentino is the coolest
  • My favorite animal changes quite frequently but it's usually somewhere between: wolves, dolphins, llamas, and bears
  • I love living in New York City
  • The one thing I hate about NYC is that you can't see the stars at night
  • The ringing still hasn't stopped
  • Peter Pan makes me cry
  • I play guitar ok
  • I must have been dropped in boy repellant when I was a wee lass
  • I miss summer a lot
  • I love Harry Potter
  • School sucks
  • I really like being neat and organized, however I am not a naturally neat and/or organized person
  • Clueless and Ferris Bueller's Day Off are my favorite movies
  • The ringing has ceased
  • I desperately want to travel the world
  • I'm going to stop now

Okay so now that you know some facts about me, I'm sure you're absolutely dying to see my room, right? My room is very small but it's cozy and I like it quite a lot... Yup.

This is the corner with the most music stuff. I felt sort of silly saying that music is important to me in the facts up there^ because, let's be honest, music is important to everyone. But as you can see here it is a very big part of my life. Definitely one of the biggest<3
...Eventually there will be a music section on this blog, so get excited.

My dogs who died when I was very young. Lou and Tony. Wearing T-shirts. A perfect polaroid taken by one of my parents.

Some of my clothes and my jewelry and my make-up. As you can see I like mellow colors, aside from that bright pink hoodie, which I hardly even wear (I only keep it because it's super soft and perfect for the beach) and prints  (particularly small polka dots).
Also you may have noticed that I don't have very much make-up, and that's because I don't wear much make-up. I think mascara is the most important because I feel like you can not be wearing any other make-up but then as soon as you put on mascara you instantly look gorgeous! Voila! I love all of my mascaras, the Great Lash from Mabelline is nice for thin, non-clumpy lashes and is about 5 or 6 bucks, I think! The Stila is good for big, thick lashes. The tiny Chanel, is perfect for long voluminous lashes, and the One by One mascara from Mabelline is excellent for long lashes and is also like $6. I also usually wear eyeliner. Covergirl is great and super cheap. I also love love love the stila eyeliner. It goes on so smooth and thick for a more dramatic look. I usually just apply a bit of eye-liner to the corners of my eyes. And the last bit of make-up I wear is lip stain. I have the Stila lip stain which is actually empty because I'm lazy and haven't bought a new one yet, but. So right now I've been using the Covergirl outlast lip stain which I love and it's also quite cheap. So yeah that's all the make-up I wear.

And that is my lovely lovely loft bed.

SoHo Shenanigans

It may come as little surprise to you that we, being a group of teenage girls, absolutely hate school. Luckily, we had this past entire week off! So obviously we went totally crazy and partied the entire week away....lol jk. But we did have a lovely day about the city!
 First Stop: Whole Foods

What is life without yummy food? Meaningless. We decided to head over to Whole Foods to pick up lunch. Jess and I (Sophia) headed over to the sushi bar whilst Wendy went Indian. Thankfully Wendy got way too much food for one person at the Indian Bar so I was able to steal some of her Chicken Marsala. Sharing is caring.

Second Stop: Sephora

So then we headed to Sephora to do stupid girly stuff and smell perfume.

In't this a great deal? This giftset contains A 1.7 oz bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy, and a shower gel and lotion of the scent! Not to mention the super cute bag. I think Jess is gonna have to save up her money and gift this to herself.

The Clean line of fragrances smells like unicorns and sunshine and rainbows and Harry Styles and basically everything good in the world....
 Third Stop: MAC

After some more wandering we found ourselves in MAC's SoHo location. It's so lovely inside! The makeup isn't half bad either.
As you can see, I was quite entertained by the decor.......
 Fourth Stop: Topshop

Finally, we headed to the famous Topshop. Jess and I had never been so we were excited to explore the store......

Sophia gives Top Shop's clothes a big thumbs up......

...and their prices a thumbs down.

Topshop's prices make me want to cry. Perhaps it's a good excuse to go to England to get their beautiful clothes marginally cheaper?

xoxoxo,
Jess, Sophia and Wendy.
